Controller

Gerald Amrhein, Kilianstraße 3, 63839 Kleinwallstadt, Germany – email: webmaster@amrhein.info (see also Legal Notice).

Hosting and server logs

The website runs on my own virtual server from IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, in a data centre in Germany.

With every request, the web server stores technically necessary information: IP address, date and time, requested page, amount of data transferred, status code, referring page and browser identifier. This serves secure operation, troubleshooting and defence against attacks (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The logs are not analysed to identify visitors and are deleted regularly.

Tools (GPX tools)

GPX to KML Converter and Google KML to GPX Converter work entirely in your browser; the files and addresses do not leave your device. Exception: the “Auto-Expand URLs” feature of the Google converter sends short links to external services (allorigins.win, codetabs.com, unshorten.me) to determine the full address. Do not use this feature if you do not want that.

GPX Parts Extractor and POI Pattern Extractor process the uploaded file on this server. The GPX Parts Extractor keeps uploaded files in an archive so they can be processed again; the list of files is visible to other visitors. Do not upload files containing personal data there. You can delete a file yourself using the deletion token shown.

The tools load icons (Font Awesome) from cdnjs.cloudflare.com; in doing so, your IP address is transmitted to Cloudflare.

Embedded videos

Some posts contain videos from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited) in privacy-enhanced mode. When the page loads, a connection to YouTube/Google servers is established and your IP address is transmitted; YouTube only sets cookies once you play the video. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in displaying the videos (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Browser storage

The website remembers your choice between light and dark design in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). This value does not leave your device.

Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure and restriction of processing, the right to data portability and the right to object (Art. 15–21 GDPR). An informal email to webmaster@amrhein.info is sufficient. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
